Davis Cup holders Serbia eased into this year's semifinals after Janko Tipsarevic crushed Sweden's Michael Ryderstedt in their last-eight singles rubber here on Sunday. Tipsarevic — standing in for Novak Djokovic — won the fourth rubber in three straight sets to secure Serbia a semi-final meeting with Argentina, themselves easy 5-0 winners against Kazakhstan.

Ryderstedt, who was playing his first ever Davis Cup had put up a good fight but lost to Viktor Troicki in the first rubber on Friday.
France win
Stuttgart: France completed a 4-1 victory over Germany in their quarterfinal by splitting Sunday's reverse singles. France was already assured of a place in the semis after winning Saturday's doubles for an unassailable 3-0 lead. Philipp Petzschner earned Germany's only point by beating Michael Llodra before Jo-Wilfried Tsonga beat Philipp Kohlschreiber in the final match.
Both reverse singles were reduced to best-of-three sets.
