It's time for the last and final Grand Slam tournament of the year - the US Open 2022 - which will witness some of the best players across the globe in action. Defending champion Daniil Medvedev and four-time winner Rafael Nadal will be leading the field in the men's draw. World No.2 Alexander Zverev has pulled out of the competition owing to his continued recovery from the ankle injury he incurred in June during French Open, while the question over Novak Djokovic's presence at the Flushing Meadows continue to bother fans as the Serb is yet to announce his decision amid the vaccination protocols for foreigners in America. In the women's draw, Iga Swiatek will be leading the field while Emma Raducanu will be aiming to defend her historic crown. The focus will however be entirely on 23-time Grand Slam winner Serena Williams who will be playing her last and final tournament of her illustrious career.

Who are the defending champions?
Daniil Medvedev had beaten Novak Djokovic in the final, 6–4, 6–4, 6–4 in the final last year to claim his maiden Grand Slam title. En route to the trophy, Medvedev lost only one set, against Botic van de Zandschulp in the quarterfinals. Meanwhile, Emma Raducanu scripted history by becoming the first Grand Slam qualifier to win the title. She defeated Leylah Fernandez 6-4, 6-3 in the summit clash to claim her first major.
