Joey Logano's multi-car crash led to Herbst hitting sidewall
Riley Herbst was not the only one to suffer a bad crash at the YellaWood500. Joey Logano's No. 22 Ford Mustang Dark Horse also flipped upside down with just five laps left in the race. The medical crew was attending to Logano's crash and took a few minutes to reach Herbst.
The multi-car crash as Locgano was battling for the pole position in Sunday's race. Herbst car was also one of the cars involved in the crash involving Logan's Ford.
NASCAR reporters noted the Herbst car first hit the sidewall after the multi-car crash involving Logan. It then turned right and hit the sidewall due to what experts suggested was a brake failure.
Joey Logano was also able to safely walk out of the car and no major injury to the 36-year-old driver is being reported at the moment.
“I just got a push in the wrong spot there,” Logano said after the race. “It was very much a ‘Talladega Nights,’ Oh no, I’m upside down, this is not good’ moment. I can’t thank the safety crew enough. They did an amazing job flipping that thing over.
"The last time I flipped it was crushed on my head. This time, I don’t think any of the roll cage crushed at all, so I appreciate what NASCAR’s done. Thank you and the safety team for getting me out of there. There was some vicious hits in this one. Just happy to be alive.”
