The defensive end is reportedly not out due injury, despite the Bills suggesting he is. Reports say his two-year-old son has died in a drowning accident back in June, leaving the defensive tackle's family shattered.

According to unverified reports on social media, the defensive tackle's two-year-old son died in a drowning accident in Oliver Huffman's home in Texas. The claim seems to have originated in rumors accounts. Total Pro Sports also reported on the rumors noting that there is no confirmation.

NFL Network reporter Cameron Wolfe reported later that a source close to Ed Oliver has confirmed that he is indeed mourning the loss of his son.

"Bills defensive tackle Ed Oliver and his family have been mourning the tragic loss of his son, and he is asking, per a source close to him, for “privacy and prayers at this very difficult time.'" he wrote.

Joe Brady, the head coach of the Buffalo Bills, had previously attributed Ed Oliver's absence to injuries. Though, it was never specified what injury the 28-year-old was dealing with.

But the viral posts have fueled speculation, leaving many Buffalo Bills fans worried. There have also been videos circulating on social media allegedly showing Ed Oliver speaking to officers after the incident. Rumors claim that Ed Oliver was present at the address when the incident took place.

Tony Farmer, an independent journalist, claimed that there is a "media blackout" on the story of the 2-year-old's death. According to him, homicide detectives are involved in the case. He also claims that the Bills writers are aware of the story but have been refraining from breaking it.

Bills GM Releases Statement

“On behalf of the entire Buffalo Bills organization, we want to publicly express our condolences to Ed Oliver and his family on the devastating loss of his son,” Bills General Manager Brandon Beane said in a statement. “It's an unthinkable tragedy for any parent. We will continue to support Ed and his family as we all grieve this tragic loss.”
