Google launches Pixel 8, 8 Pro with Pixel Watch 2 at Made by Google event | Higlights

The higher-end Pixel 8 Pro features a Thermometer app to measure body temperature, subject to approval by the Food and Drug Administration.

Google beefed up the Pixel line up with its latest mobile processor, Tensor G3, which brings several machine learning and generative AI models natively on the device.

It would help users accomplish new AI features like for photography, summarizing web pages, and blocking out spam call, executives said at Made by Google event on Wednesday.

Google will soon release a version of its virtual assistant that is powered by the company’s Bard artificial intelligence technology, helping users handle more complex tasks.

The new offering, called Assistant with Bard, will be available in a test phase shortly and then roll out to the general public in the coming months, the company said Wednesday. The release will equip the Assistant, which helps users of Android and Google devices complete tasks and find information, with some of the capabilities of Bard, a chatbot that is the company’s answer to OpenAI’s wildly popular ChatGPT.

Preorders for Pixel 8 and 8 Pro start today with availability set for October 12. The Pixel 8 starts at $699, while the Pixel 8 Pro is priced at $999.

"Video Boost" is an upgrade to Pixel video that Google says will surpass the iPhone 15 Pro Max. When you capture a video, it will automatically be available on your device, but in the background, it will upload the video to the cloud for Video Boost to take effect and then deliver it back to Google Photos.

The Pixel 8 Pro is receiving improvements across all its camera lenses. The primary sensor is now larger, while the ultrawide camera boasts an impressive 48MP resolution. Additionally, the ultrawide lens gains a macro feature. Meanwhile, the Pixel 8 also supports macro photography through its ultrawide lens and benefits from an enhanced main sensor for improved low-light performance. Furthermore, the telephoto lens on the Pixel 8 Pro features a larger aperture and an enhanced field of view, ensuring more light can be captured.

"Best Take" is the newest inclusion in Google's array of photo features. It enables users to select the finest individual image from a collection of photos and merge them to create a better single shot.

The Pixel 8 takes design cues from the Pixel 7, showcasing smoother lines and a slightly smaller form factor while retaining a flat display. In contrast, the Pixel 8 Pro introduces a sophisticated touch with its matte glass rear panel, emphasizing premium colour selections. Furthermore, the Pixel Buds Pro will introduce new colour options to perfectly match the aesthetic appeal of the latest Pixel smartphones.

Video capture is getting some big improvements, and that includes Audio Magic Eraser — a feature that removes unwanted sounds from videos.

The new temperature sensor on the Pixel 8 Pro can test “anything around you". For example- testing a baby's bottle temperature.

Pixel 8 comes with the "Actua display" which is 42% brighter at up to 2,000 nits of brightness. Pixel 8 Pro features a "Super Actua display" with 2400 nits of peak brightness.

Pixel Watch 2: The new model features a sturdier cover glass and an aluminium housing made entirely from 100% recycled materials. Even with the always-on display, users can expect up to 24 hours of usage. Additionally, the enhanced fast-charging capability can provide 12 hours of use in just 30 minutes of charging.
