Earlier, the Indo-Uruguayan pair rebounded strongly from a set down to register a 4-6, 7-6 (7), 10-8 win over the seventh seeds Feliciano Lopez and Marc Lopez in the men’s doubles event.
A clash that lasted for one hour and 39 minute saw Bopanna and Cuevas get three break chances but could convert none and lost their serve once in the opening set.
They, however, came from behind to knock out the Spaniards and book their place in the quarter-finals of the tournament.
In the women’s doubles clash, India’s Sania Mirza and Yaroslava Shvedova will also aim to storm into last-four when they face the Italian duo of Sara Errani and Martina Trevisan in the quarterfinals.
