Amit Shah is the Union home minister of the current government. A close associate of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah was the party president before JP Nadda. Born on October 22 in 1964, Amit Shah's entry into politics was through ABVP, the student wing of the RSS, in Gujarat. In 1987, Amit Shah joined the BJP and was first elected to Gujarat Assembly in 1997. In Narendra Modi's cabinet in Gujarat, Amit Shah held multiple portfolios. In 2002, he was the youngest minister in the Modi cabinet. Amit Shah played a major organisational role in the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
