“Unfortunate decision to shift metro car shed from Aarey to Kanjurmarg and that too just to satisfy the ego. This decision will increase the cost of the project by at least Rs 4,000 crore and this cost escalation is assessed by the committee appointed by this Government,” former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis tweeted.
A final proposal for reserved forest declaration has been vetted and submitted to the Maharashtra government for the allocation of 328.9 hectare (ha) within Aarey as a reserved forest under the Indian Forest Act.(Vanashakti)

On Friday morning, the Bombay high court dismissed four petitions challenging the decision of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) tree authority permitting the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MMRCL) to cut 2,646 trees to construct a metro car-shed in Aarey colony.
