Rajan, Nityanand Nayak, Selvin Daniel, Rohit Thangappan Joseph alias Satish Kalia, Dilip Upadhyay and Talvinder Singh have been held guilty of attempt to murder, hatching a criminal conspiracy and working under an organised crime syndicate under the Indian Penal Code and MCOCA.

With stricter provisions for grant of bail and prescription of longer jail terms, MCOCA was aimed at dismantling organised crime syndicates and its success in Maharashtra led to the act being extended to Delhi in January 2002.
