BJP leaders 'thank' PM Modi for excise duty cut on fuel; Oppn says ‘jumlas’

Nirmala Sitharaman announced that the government has reduced the excise duty on petrol and diesel against the backdrop of inflation. The excise duty on petrol was reduced by 8 per litre and diesel by 6.
The excise duty cut will translate into a reduction of <span class='webrupee'>₹</span>9.5 a litre on petrol and <span class='webrupee'>₹</span>7 a litre in diesel after taking into account its impact on other levies. (HT File/Representational image)
