Audit findings: Panjab University yet to recover 13.5 crore from Punjab SC students under Post Matric Scholarship scheme

While initially, the state government used to transfer the students’ fee directly to the varsity, they eventually started disbursing it to the students’ accounts under the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme after which students were expected to submit it to their college or university concerned

The audit found that various departments and constituent colleges of PU did not take admission fee or other charges from SC students of Punjab, eligible for PMS. (HT File)

Haryana transfers 184 crore into farmers’ accounts

The total ₹184 crore transferred included ₹122 crore subsidy on 10,393 crop residue management equipment and a bonus of ₹62 crore, said Haryana agriculture and farmers’ welfare minister Shyam Singh Rana

Haryana agriculture minister said the state government is fully committed to the welfare of farmers. He said direct benefit transfer will not only provide economic strength to the farmers but also raise their standard of living. (HT File)
