Kerala: 22-year-old killed in St Thomas College by her classmate

  • Abhishek, a Koothattukulam native, reportedly slit the victim's throat as she was coming out of the exam hall. Soon after this, she was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she succumbed to the injury.
The victim was a resident of Vaikom, located northwest of Kottayam district, according to police. (PTI)

Health ministry sends experts to bird flu-hit states, no human case found yet

The department of animal husbandry on January 4, 2021, had notified detection of Avian Influenza (H5N8) in samples of dead ducks from Alappuzha and Kottayam districts in Kerala. A similar report of bird flu has also been received from poultry samples from Panchkula district of Haryana.

Central team to visit bird flu-hit areas of Kerala tomorrow, culling of ducks continue

The state government has also announced relief for affected farmers-- they will be given 100 for each culled duck. In three days at least 46,000 birds will be culled in Alappuzha 38,000 and 8000 in Kottayam. There is a ban on trading of ducks till further notice in the two districts.

Bird flu outbreak: Kerala issues high alert, declares virus as state-specific disaster

The virus was reported from four panchayats--Nedumudi, Thakazhy, Pallippad and Karuvatta--in Kuttanad region of Alappuzha district and from a duck farm in Neendoor panchayat in Kottayam district.

On the last two occasions, he skipped the court saying he was staying in a containment zone in Jalandhar and later he said he had tested positive for coronavirus. But the prosecution questioned the veracity of both claims.

60-year-old woman murdered in Kerala, husband critical: Police

Police said besides stab wounds, the woman also suffered electric shock. The gas stove was also found in the bed room with the nob turned on. The two were tied with a wire and electrocuted.

British couple with coronavirus symptoms slip out of hospital in Kerala

According to the police, they reached Kochi on March 9 and moved to Alappuzha on March 12. Both later developed diarrhoea and other complications and came to the medical college hospital for a check up. In the medical college hospital they were advised to go to the virology hospital and doctors there advised them to get quarantined.
