Visuals released by news agency ANI on Wednesday showed New Delhi Railway Station swarming with people without facial masks. Additionally, no security personnel has been spotted asking people to maintain social distancing.

The seized gold was in the form of biscuits and cut-pieces and is believed to have been smuggled into the country through the northeastern border, the officer said, adding that it is of “foreign origin”.

Police said they were not sure if the deaths were due to exposure to the chemical or the fall that they suffered. All three had suffered burn injuries and policemen who had arrived to help them too said they had suffered burning sensation when they tried to lift the victims up.

All three had suffered burns. Police are unsure of whether these burns, caused by the chemical, or the injuries from the fall caused their deaths. They are awaiting autopsy reports and forensic analysis of the chemical to ascertain this.
