Delhi pollution: Construction ban may delay key infra projects

A senior PWD official who asked not to be named said that some of these projects are specifically aimed at decongesting arterial stretches and thereby cutting vehicular emissions, adding that the government should grant exemption to such projects.

Cabinet approves land monetisation at Pragati Maidan to build a five-star hotel

Union minister Prakash Javadekar said a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) will be formed by the Indian Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) and the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) for the development and operation of the hotel with modern amenities.

Smoke inside coach, metro evacuated at Akshardham

A Delhi Metro train going towards Noida had to be evacuated at Akshardham station and taken off service on Wednesday afternoon after smoke was detected in its last coach. Metro services were temporarily affected on the Blue Line.

Govt may consider proposal for construction of hotel at Delhi’s Pragati Maidan by private firm

The 3.7 acres land at Delhi’s Pragati Maidan would be monetised on long-term leasehold basis for 99 years for construction and running of a hotel by a third party, government sources said.
