The MeT department on Tuesday predicted that moderate to dense fog is likely to occur in some parts of the plains especially in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar from January 6-9. It further predicted that light to moderate rainfall or snowfall is likely to occur at many places in the state on Wednesday.

Out of 73,527who have tested positive so far, a total of 66,855 have recovered successfully, taking the recovery rate in the state to 90.93%. The positivity rate in the state now stands at 5.65%.

Snowfall likely in Uttarakhand districts over next few days: IMD bulletin

In a bulletin issued, authorities predicted that very light to light rainfall or snowfall is likely to occur at a few places of Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh districts and at isolated places in Dehradun and Tehri districts of the hill state from Monday onwards.

In Uttarkashi district, five villages of Mori block have been cut off since the past ten days after connecting bridges broke due to heavy rainfall. The five villages; Osla, Gangad, Pawani, Dhatmir and Srigad in Mori block are located about 220 km away from the district headquarters.

Four Covid-19 positive patients die in Uttarakhand, state tally rises to 8,623

A total of 102 Covid-19 positive patients have died in Uttarakhand till now with 16 patients dying due to coronavirus, according to the health officials. The rest of the positive patients died due to co-morbidities and other causes, added health officials.

Uttarakhand BJP MLA tests positive for Covid-19, third legislator to contract infection

Earlier two legislators had tested positive for Covid-19 in the state. On July 30, Raj Kumar, Congress MLA from Purola in Uttarkashi district had tested positive. He was admitted to the Government Doon Medical College Hospital. In June, state tourism minister Satpal Maharaj had tested positive for Covid-19.

According to the health bulletin released by the state health department on Tuesday evening, 208 fresh cases included maximum 63 from US Nagar district, followed by Dehradun (48), Pithoragarh (32), Haridwar (23), Nainital (10), Champawat (10), Uttarkashi (8), Pauri (6) Tehri (3), Almora (3) and one each from Chamoli and Rudraprayag.
