The video opens to show two kids standing by the roadside. Within moments, it becomes clear they are there to take a picture with an alligator behind them. The video also shows another kid being pulled into the frame to take photos.

The grownups' encouragement of the kids to stand extremely close to the reptile lying with its mouth open on the side of a road has left people in disbelief.

Take a look at the viral video:

“They really let anyone have children, huh,” posted an Instagram user. “Who else was rooting for the Gator to snap at ALL of them?,” added another.

“People really don't understand or think about how fast Gators are in water AND on land,” joined a third. “Funny that kids are the only ones showing appropriate fear of that beast,” shared a fourth. “Love how their 1 smart kid is fighting to stay far away and mum restrained them firmly in the danger zone,” wrote a fifth.

The video was reportedly captured at Everglades National Park in Florida. The park is home to "numerous rare and endangered species like the manatee, American crocodile, and the elusive Florida panther." A World Heritage Site, it is the largest subtropical wilderness in the USA.

What are your thoughts on this video of parents who are being slammed as irresponsible?
