Anil Kapoor's TV production to be shot in Mumbai

Anil Kapoor, who is currently in Los Angeles (LA), US, admits he doesn’t plan to stay out of the country for too long this year. Reason: he has too many engagements in India. And one of the most important ones involves his TV production, the Indian remake of the popular American series 24.

It was reported recently that the actor had sold his rights to the show for a huge sum to a leading TV network. The report even claimed that he wouldn’t be involved with the show’s production. But Kapoor denies it all, saying, “Contrary to that, I’m already working on the series. I haven’t sold the rights to anyone. My company will make the show. Once I’m back from LA, and BAFTA in the UK, I will start working on it full time.”

Kapoor, who is yet to finalise the cast for the show, insists he is in no hurry and will take the show on air only after he has shot everything and watched the edited tapes. “I don’t want my remake to be anything less than the original. So till I’m sure of the script, I will not cast anyone. I don’t want to put a date to it right now, but I can assure you that it’s going on the floors within this calendar year.”

When asked whether he plans to step in front of the camera in the ‘desi’ 24, he laughs, “It’s too early to speak about that. Once the script is sealed, and we start casting, we’ll think about it. For now, I just want the script and shooting locations to be sorted.”
