Yeh Hain Mohabbatein star Divyanka Tripathi has asked Prime Minister Naredra Modi to take stern action against rapists. The television actor is distraught at the news of a minor girl who was raped on her way to an Independence Day function at her school in Chandigarh.

She wrote in a tweet on Wednesday, directed at the PM, “Sir, devise such a punishment for these predators that their soul should shiver at the mere thought of indecency towards women. We trust in you, do something.”

“Women must stop voting for any party as they are so unimportant for this nation! It’s a ‘No Woman’s Land’ or a #RapistsParadise we live in!,” she added.

The 12-year-old girl was kidnapped and raped on August 15 in Chandigarh’s Sector 23. The incident happened at the children’s traffic park. “The accused, aged around 40 years, forcibly took the 12-year-old girl to the park, sexually assaulted her and fled,” investigating officer in the case, sub-inspector Kuldeep, told PTI.

The victim, a student of Class 8 of a government school, was taken to a government hospital in Sector 16 for a medical examination, the officer said, adding a case had been registered. Divyanka stars in Star Plus’s hit television soap, Yeh Hain Mohabbatein, as lead character Ishita.
