Jaya Bachchan to play single parent on TV?

Jaya Bachchan is set to make her debut on small screen soon. Other details of the show are being kept under wraps, but apparently it is based on a Gujarati novel. Sources claim that Jaya will play a single parent on the show.

On the heels of Anil Kapoor’s TV show debut came the announcement of Amitabh Bachchan and Anurag Kashyap teaming up for another series. And now that Bachchan’s wife, Jaya, is all set to hit the small screen soon, she is taking a keen interest in the fiction show’s casting.

A source close to the show says, "Jaya will play a single parent who manages the family. Her character will have three sons, two of whom will be married with kids. Currently, the auditions for the roles of the sons are on and many popular TV actors are vying for them. The makers have been taking the audition tapes and pictures to Jaya for her consideration and she has been deliberating with the team. They will finalise the names soon."

Since the character of the veteran actor’s on-screen husband is not important to the story line, the makers are not looking for a well-known face for the part. Other details of the show are being kept under wraps, but apparently it is based on a Gujarati novel.
