Even though she started her career on the small screen, Sandhya Mridul has stayed away from television since Hu Ba Hu (2002). Recently, the actor returned to the tube playing a teenager’s mother in a detective drama.

"This challenging role gave me the chance to play a mother. It will be good practice for me if I ever decide to have kids, which I am not very sure about," she says with a laugh.

Having done shows like Swabhimaan and Koshish…Ek Asha, Sandhya didn’t want to be typecast in a saas-bahu serial, and switched to films in search of variety. "I don’t like to repeat myself, which is why I end up doing less work. I’m glad that I worked with some of the best talents on TV and did every role possible. I did miss acting on TV, and it was upsetting when everyone said I wanted to only do films; I merely wanted different roles and not play the same role for 10 years. I get passionate about things and because of that I get exhausted quickly."
