Taking another chance

Steven Spielberg’s TV series, Terra Nova — could undo the failures of past.

His stint on TV shows Life on Mars and In Justice, didn’t quite catch on with audiences, but Irish actor Jason O’Mara is keeping his fingers crossed that his current venture —Steven Spielberg’s TV series, Terra Nova — could undo the failures of past.



"I’ve never got the second season of a show and I’m sure people are painfully aware of this. But this show (Terra Nova) is way bigger than the actors are. Spielberg’s

presence is one of the selling points," says the 39-year-old actor, adding, "I really feel like it’s out of my hands and I’ve done my work and now it’s just a question as to how much of a hit this is going to be. I think we might be on to something here, but I’ve been wrong in the past."

Based in 2149, the series that airs on Star World, is about going back into the past to the time when dinosaurs existed, to save humanity from extinction in the future. Shot in the

wilderness of Australia, O’Mara says, filming was quite hard. "We were really out there in the rain forest and on location and exposed to the elements for better or for worse," says the actor, who wants to portray raw characters.



"I like to play very raw characters, who have a degree of vulnerability and passion about what they’re doing," says O’Mara, who was roped into the project

accidentally, on the basis of his "availability" than anything else.
