Worried about terror threats: Mouli Ganguly on shooting in Kashmir

TV actor Mouli Ganguly, who is shooting in Kashmir for her role as the step mother of the mythological character Karan in a new show Suryaputra Karn, talks about her experience.

Mouli Ganguly is excited about her upcoming mythological series, Suryaputra Karn. The actor, who is playing a foster mother in the show, has been shooting in Jammu and Kashmir for some time now. Apart from her challenging role, she also talks about how she is dealing with the harsh climatic conditions and terror threats in the state.

Tell us about the experience of shooting in Kashmir?
It’s my first time in the state. We are shooting at Peer Ki Galli, which is a smaller district in Shopian. We need to shoot at a location that has snow, so we had to go to a higher altitude. The temperature at minus six degrees is unbearable with heavy snowfall and low oxygen levels. Moreover, I am worried about the terror threats, so it is quite scary. But, I thank the army for ensuring our safety and trying to make our lives here as normal as possible.

Did you have second thoughts about shooting in Kashmir due to security issues?
I didn’t think much. When Siddharth (Kumar Tewary, producer) told me we would shoot in Kashmir for a month, I said ‘wow’. But now I feel like returning (laughs) as it’s too stressful at times. This is a big challenge that the producer has taken.
