China condemned recent incidents at Japanese nuclear facilities, including Fukushima Daiichi and Kashiwazaki-Kariwa, citing "deficiencies" in operation, maintenance, and oversight. Beijing urged Japan to "learn from past nuclear accidents, ensure timely explanations, address radioactive waste management, and accept international supervision to protect the marine environment". Separately, China opposed U.S. tariffs on Chinese companies, warning of global supply chain disruptions and promising measures to safeguard its interests if the U.S. continues. China also criticized Japan’s military expansion under Prime Minister Takaichi, including revised defense policies and nuclear-capable submarines, viewing them as threats to regional peace and international norms.
