Big relief for India amid Iran war, 2 LPG tankers cross Hormuz strait, head to India amid gas crisis

Two Indian LPG carriers, Shivalik and Nanda Devi, have crossed the Strait of Hormuz with 92,700 metric tonnes of cargo from Qatar’s Ras Laffan, offering a major supply boost for India as the West Asia conflict disrupts energy shipping. Reports say the vessels are heading to Gujarat ports and are expected to arrive on March 16 and 17. The development matters because India depends heavily on imported LPG, and the Gulf remains its main supply source. Reports say panic booking has pushed daily LPG demand to nearly 88 lakh from around 55 lakh, while the government has tightened booking rules with a 25-day gap for urban users and 45 days for rural consumers to curb hoarding and manage distribution pressure.
