BJP’s candidate from Surat Lok Sabha seat has won the seat unopposed from the constituency after Congress candidate’s nomination form was rejected by the returning officer and the other eight candidates withdrew their nominations. Meanwhile, BJP Tamil Nadu chief K Annamalai alleged that Congress didn’t extend support to Shashi Tharoor when he ran for UN Secretary-General post in 2006.
