U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to press Chinese President Xi Jinping over Beijing’s ties with Iran during a summit in China from May 13 to 15, as tensions over the Iran war continue to rise. Reports say Trump plans to raise concerns about China’s alleged support for Tehran, including dual-use technology exports and possible weapons-related assistance. The summit is also expected to address trade disputes, Taiwan and nuclear security issues. Meanwhile, Iran’s ambassador to China, Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli, said Beijing and Moscow could act as guarantors for any future Iran-U.S. agreement amid stalled peace talks and a fragile ceasefire.
