‘Bengal needs 105 shramik trains a day’: Piyush Goyal slams Mamata govt

Updated on May 15, 2020 03:26 pm IST

Union Railways Minister Piyush Goyal slammed states like West Bengal, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand for not permitting 'shramik special' trains to enter. Goyal said that there is a need for 105 trains a day for stranded migrants from Bengal to return home. The Union Minister's remarks came in response to a tweet by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. In a tweet, Banerjee said she had arranged for 105 additional special trains to bring back migrants. Indian Railways had started migrant special service on May 1, after the Centre permitted transportation of stranded workers on trains during lockdown.
