‘Black-marketing of hospital beds’: Delhi CM’s warning over Covid treatment

Updated on Jun 06, 2020 06:00 pm IST

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal threatened strict action against a 'few' private hospitals allegedly indulging in 'black marketing' of hospital beds. In a televised address, Kejriwal said that some hospitals were asking for lakhs of Rupees in order to admit Covid-19 patients. He said that some private hospitals in Delhi were trying to deny Covid care by using their political connections. He also announced the deployment of a government medical professional in all hospitals to ensure proper provision of bed. The issue arose due to reported mismatch in data of beds as claimed by hospitals and information available on a state government application.
