‘Could reduce Covid deaths by 35%’: Donald Trump approves plasma therapy in US

US President Donald Trump announced the announced emergency authorization to treat COVID-19 patients with convalescent plasma. Lauding officials for the fight against Covid, President Trump said that this decision could reduce Covid deaths by 35%. It comes after he accused the FDA of impeding the rollout of vaccines and therapeutics for political reasons. Trump also added that access to this treatment will now be expanded and urged recovered Covid patients to come forward and donate plasma. He said that his government has been working to remove unnecessary delays in the system and said that his government has been working on war footing to tackle the Covid crisis. The United States has confirmed more than 44,000 new cases of coronavirus over the last 24 hours, according to data provided by the US-based Johns Hopkins University.
