Updated on Sept 13, 2020 12:17 am IST

From the Oxford university and pharma major AstraZeneca resuming trial of the vaccine developed by them, to the Gujarat government asking oxygen manufacturers to ramp up production amid spike in cases - here are the top news updates on the Covid-19 pandemic. After a brief pause due to symptoms of a neurological disorder in one of the volunteers, trials of one of the most promising vaccine candidates have resumed in the United Kingdom. Serum Institute of India, which is conducting trials of the same vaccine in the country, said that it would also resume trials once the Drugs Controller General of India gives clearance. Meanwhile, Covid cases among Maharashtra police force personnel neared the 20,000-mark with 480+ new infections being detected. In international news, hospitals in the United States of America turned down around one-third of the allocated supply of the drug remdesivir since July 2020. The costly drug is only being used on the most sick patients, as per reports. In neighbouring Canada, some good news was reported with the North American nation not registering a single death over a 24-hour period - the first time since March 15.
