Covid update: Weekend lockdown in Kerala; Israel to give third vaccine shot

- Kerala declared weekend lockdown after witnessing a marked rise in cases of coronavirus disease this recent week. Over 3,500 Indian citizens died abroad due to Covid and a third of it was reported from Saudi Arabia, Minister of state for external affairs V Muraleedharan told Parliament. West Bengal extended Covid restrictions until August 15. Vythiri became the first tourism destination in Kerala's Wayanad to become fully vaccinated. Israel to administer a third dose of Covid vaccine to people over 60 years of age. China's Beijing recorded its first two Covid-19 cases in months on Wednesday.
