Covid vaccine: US's first full approval for Pfizer-BioNTech jab amid Delta surge

US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) approved Pfizer-BioNtech’s Covid-19 vaccine. The full approval was granted by US regulators on Monday. This comes amid the surge in Delta variant cases in the country. Pfizer’s is a double-dose Covid-19 vaccine that was approved in the US for Emergency Use Authorisation (EUA) in 2020. The vaccine became the first to get full approval. "While millions have already safely received Covid-19 vaccines, we recognise that for some, an approval from us may now instill additional confidence to get vaccinated," said Janet Woodcock, FDA’s acting commissioner.
