Omicron: What WHO said after India confirmed cases of Covid-19 variant

As India confirms cases of the Omicron variant, the World Health Organization said it was not unexpected. WHO South East Asia Regional Director Dr Poonam Khetrapal Singh said all countries must detect & respond to importations. Singh also said that it is not the time for complacency. “The confirmation of Omicron variant of concern today by India, the first two cases in WHO South-East Asia Region, was not unexpected in view of the interconnected world that we live in,” said Singh. The Union health ministry confirmed two cases of the Omicron variant in India. Watch the full video for more.
