Warning on more-infectious Omicron sub-variant: How worried should you be

A sub-variant of the fast-spreading Omicron strain has now been detected in 57 countries, warned W.H.O. Studies have indicated that this Omicron variant could be even more infectious than the original version. Omicron had become the dominant variant worldwide in only 10 weeks when it was first detected in Africa. In its weekly report, W.H.O. said Omicron counts several sub-lineages: BA.1, BA.1.1, BA.2, and BA.3. They still account for over 96% of all the Omicron sequences uploaded to the GISAID global science initiative. However, there has since then been a clear rise in cases involving the BA.2 sub-variant.
