Watch: Crowds throng Chennai hospital to get Remdesivir, flout Covid norms

- People thronged a government hospital in Chennai to procure Remdesivir drugs for family members. A huge gathering was seen outside Government Kilpauk Medical College despite lockdown. People were seen flouting Covid-19 protocols to purchase the Remdesivir injection. Locals said they stood in long queues for hours, yet could not manage to get the drug. “I am in need of the Remdesivir drug for my (Covid positive) mother. I have been trying to get Remdesivir drug for the past three days. I have come to collect a drug for my mother, but now I feel I've been infected,” said a local, Imran. Tamil Nadu has reported a surge in daily Covid infections & is under lockdown since May 10. Remdesivir is considered a potential drug used in the treatment of Covid-19 patients.
