England outplayed by Pakistan, admits Joe Root

England skipper Joe Root admitted that his side was outplayed by Pakistan in their nine-wicket loss to the latter in the Lord's Test on Sunday. “It has been disappointing. We have been outplayed across all three departments. And in particular with the bat, first up. Well below par, and we were always chasing the game from there, really. Trying to find a way back in. And we have to bat better. We dropped chances. I though the bowlers created a number of opportunities. It is slightly disappointing. Showed a bit of character last night (Saturday). I thought the way that Jos (Buttler) played and Bessie (Dominic Bess) in particular stood up and put in a real good effort. But ultimately we have just got to be better,” he said after the match.
