A major new development has emerged just days after the landmark U.S.-Iran memorandum was signed. Trump envoy Steve Witkoff revealed that Iran could soon invite the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to inspect key nuclear facilities across the country, potentially opening the door to one of the most significant verification efforts in years. According to Witkoff, a previously undisclosed letter addressed to IAEA Director-General Rafael Grossi reportedly includes a formal invitation for inspectors to enter Iran and help locate, verify, and monitor Tehran’s stockpile of enriched nuclear material. The inspections could become the first major test of Iran’s compliance with the new agreement. The whereabouts of parts of Iran’s nuclear inventory have remained one of the biggest unanswered questions throughout the conflict. Witkoff also indicated that American nuclear experts could participate in the verification process as both sides enter a critical 60-day negotiation period aimed at reaching a broader and more permanent settlement.
