Roger Moore: Remembering the star of seven James Bond films
Updated on May 24, 2017 12:22 pm IST
The suave star of seven James Bond films — actor Roger Moore has died. Moore starred in his first Bond film in 1973 after Sean Connery left the role. Moore's relaxed style and sense of whimsy, which relied heavily on the arched eyebrow, seemed a commentary on the essential ridiculousness of the Bond films' over-the-top plots. After leaving the role, Moore continued to work regularly in films but never with the same success. In 1991, he became a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF… and championed the cause of commercial sexual exploitation of children — admitting himself that he was molested as a child. Moore's family says he died Monday after a short battle with cancer. He was 89.
