FIFA World Cup 2018: How VAR will be communicated to fans
Updated on Jun 13, 2018 12:30 pm IST
The referees appointed for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia trained on 12th July, two days before the opening game. One of the big talking points has been the issue of VAR (Video Assistant Referee) being used in the World Cup finals for the first time. Fans will be shown clips of the passage of play that was under revision on a big screen inside the stadium but only once the referee has made his decision. “Once play has restarted the clip of the incident will be shown”, Collina said. “So the public at the stadium will have the possibility, as well as the public in front of the television, to see the clip that convinced the referee to change his mind.” (Video courtesy - SNTV)
