A Greek maritime risk firm has warned that shipowners are being targeted by fake messages promising safe transit through the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for cryptocurrency, and Reuters reports the messages are a scam, not official Iranian communications. MARISKS said at least one vessel that later came under gunfire may have acted on the fraudulent outreach.
