70-yr old in UP gets Rs 128 cr power bill, asked to pay to resume connection

A 70-year old man in Uttar Pradesh was billed Rs 128 crore by the electricity department. Shamim, whose house has a power load of 2 kW, claimed that his usual monthly bill was Rs 700-800. Officials claimed that the bill may have been generated due to a technical glitch. Shamim also claimed that he was asked to deposit the entire amount to have the power connection restored.
