Coimbatore firm’s antiviral fabric masks can kill coronavirus, claims company

A Coimbatore based textile company will soon launch face masks made of antiviral fabric. Shiva Texyarn Ltd claimed that the masks can deactivate coronavirus upon contact. Managing Director of Shiva Texyarn, KS Sundararaman, said, “Reusability has been kept in mind while designing these masks. Chemical will stay in the fabric for a guaranteed 10 wash cycles.” He added, “We partnered with a Swiss company and designed these masks. Coming in contact with this fabric, the virus will get deactivated.” The virus is said to get deactivated within a span of 30 seconds to 2 minutes. The company said that these masks are more comfortable than the ones with filters.
