Villages near the China-Nepal border area, which still remain devoid of electricity, saw the Sahastra Seema Bal (SSB) of the Ranikhet division distributing free solar lanterns to villagers in Haldwani district of Uttarakhand. The SSB distributed lanterns to nearly 10 villages and around 250 villagers. The SSB officials said such initiatives were taken on a routine basis wherein at times medical camps are set up. Villagers were happy to receive the lanterns and said it would help them.
