Mahatma Gandhi spent 21 years in South Africa and that is the country where he first conducted satyagraha and developed his philosophy of passive resistance. Gandhi also got his first taste of racial discrimination in the country when he was thrown off a train in Pietermaritzburg. Anti- apartheid crusader and former President Nelson Mandela was also inspired by Gandhi and his ideas. Watch this video on Gandhi's 21 years in South Africa and the legacy he left behind.
