Kerala floods: Red alert in 12 of 14 districts, Kochi airport shut till Saturday

Cochin Airport suspends all flight operations till Saturday. Flood water has reportedly come into parts of the runway. Flights diverted to Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikkode airports. Red alert issued in 12 out of the 14 districts of the state due to worsening situation. Shutters of Idamlayar, Idukki and Mullaperiyar dams were opened on Tuesday night. Sluice gates of a total of 33 dams have now been opened across the state. Heavy rain, landslides and floods have claimed at least 46 lives so far.
