Ladakh: Clear message to China as soldiers hoist tricolour at Pangong lake
Indian soldiers deployed at the Line of Actual Control in Ladakh celebrated the country’s 74th Independence Day. Personnel of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police hoisted the tricolour, conducted a march and raised slogans of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’. The celebrations came amid tension with China at multiple points along the LAC. The Pangong lake was the location of a scuffle between Indian and Chinese soldiers earlier this year. China has shown military aggression at many points in Ladakh, leading to similar heightened deployment by India. The two countries also lost soldiers during a violent clash at Galwan Valley on June 15. Although the two neighbours are holding talks to reduce tension, there is yet to be significant headway. Discussions are being held at the military level. India wants China to withdraw to locations as per the situation in April 2020. However, Beijing has been ‘reluctant’ as per sources.
