Maharashtra Farmers Call Off Protest After Meeting CM Fadnavis

Over 35,000 farmers have called off their protest in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The farmers' delegation met with the CM-led ministerial committee and arrived on an agreement. The farmers had walked 180 kms from Nashik to Mumbai to hold demonstrations for their demands, which include implementation of Swaminathan Commission's recommendations, complete and unconditional waiver of their loans and electricity bills, among others. The farmers had gathered at Azad Maidan and had planned to gherao the state legislature committee. After the meeting, the government has agreed to the farmers' demands.
