Save bills from lapsing: Vice President Naidu’s appeal to Rajya Sabha MPs

Vice-President of India and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, Venkaiah Naidu appealed to members of the House to try and make its functioning more efficient. He cited the example of bills pending in the Upper House of Parliament for decades, while those which were passed by the 16th Lok Sabha lapsing in Rajya Sabha after the former was dissolved. V-P Naidu said that there was a need for debate on how to prevent lapsing of bills passed by LS and pending in RS, while bringing in a system for automatic lapsing of bills pending in Rajya Sabha for multiple years.
