Violent Cock Fight continues in Sunderbans
Updated on Feb 08, 2017 04:19 pm IST
Home to some of the richest wildlife in the world, Sunderbans in West Bengal is also witness to a cock fight throughout the year, which is similar to Tamil Nadu's popular bull-taming game Jalikattu. The cock fight, though, is far more gory for it involves the fowl being left wounded, bloodied and even dead by the end of the sport. Hundreds of local people turn up for this event, either to participate in the game or watch the cocks fight to death. Unlike Jalikattu, there are no bans or protests against this sport as of now.
