People in Kamala Harris' ancestral Indian village celebrated after waking up to the news of her making history. The news was celebrated in Tamil Nadu's Thulasendrapuram, where Harris' maternal grandfather was born. Women made rangoli and wrote, “Congratulations Kamala Harris, pride of our village, Vanakkam (Greetings) America.” Other villagers gathered at street corners reading newspapers about the democrat's victory.
